Terms of Service

By using DocNado, you agree to these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully.

1. Scope

These Terms of Service govern the use of the DocNado app (docnado.app), a Progressive Web App (PWA) for document management with AI-powered document recognition, end-to-end encryption, PayPal integration, and calendar features. The app is operated by Guido N., Johanna-Kirchner-Straße 5, 53123 Bonn, Germany.

2. Service Description

DocNado provides the following features:

  • Creating and managing documents and invoices
  • Splitting invoice items among multiple participants
  • QR code-based sharing of invoices with other users
  • Optional: PayPal integration for payment synchronization (OAuth 2.0, read-only)
  • PWA functionality for installation on mobile devices and desktop
  • AI-powered document recognition (OCR): Automatic data extraction from receipts via Datalab and OpenRouter
  • End-to-end encryption: Client-side AES-256-GCM and RSA-4096 encryption of your documents
  • Push notifications and email reminders for invoice deadlines and payments
  • Calendar overview with deadlines and reminders
  • PDF reconstruction and export of your documents

3. Account and Registration

  • Registration with email address and password is required to use the service. Email confirmation is mandatory.
  • You are obliged to provide correct and up-to-date information.
  • You are responsible for the security of your password and account access. Do not share your credentials with third parties.
  • Guest accounts can be created and later converted to full accounts.
  • IMPORTANT: Your password also serves as the key to decrypt your documents. If you forget your password, we cannot recover your encrypted data (Zero-Knowledge principle). Please keep your password safe.

4. Terms of Use

✓ Permitted: Use for personal document management, bill splitting, and payment management.

✗ Prohibited: Platform abuse, automated access without consent, violation of third-party rights, use for illegal purposes, commercial reselling of app functionality.

5. PayPal Integration

  • PayPal integration is voluntary and requires your explicit consent via OAuth 2.0.
  • DocNado receives only read-only access to your PayPal transactions.
  • DocNado assumes no liability for PayPal services, outages, or errors.
  • PayPal's Terms of Service additionally apply (https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/ua/useragreement-full).

6. Encryption and Data Loss

DocNado offers client-side end-to-end encryption. The following conditions apply:

  • Zero-Knowledge principle: We have no access to your encryption keys and cannot read encrypted data.
  • Password loss: If you lose your password, recovery of your encrypted documents is impossible. There is no "forgot password" mechanism for encrypted data.
  • Your responsibility: You are solely responsible for keeping your password safe. We recommend using a password manager.
  • No backup: We do not store unencrypted copies of your data. If the password is lost, all encrypted documents are irrecoverably lost.
  • Document sharing: RSA keys are used when sharing documents. You are responsible for sharing only with trusted individuals.

7. Disclaimer of Liability

  • The app is provided "as is" without express or implied warranties.
  • We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, or freedom from data loss.
  • We are not liable for the accuracy of data extracted through AI-OCR. AI recognition may produce errors — always verify extracted data manually.
  • We are not liable for damages caused by third-party services (PayPal, Supabase, Vercel, Datalab, OpenRouter).
  • Liability is limited to intent and gross negligence. Liability for slight negligence is limited to breaches of essential contractual obligations.
  • We assume no liability for data loss due to password loss, browser data loss, or encryption errors.

8. Intellectual Property

  • All rights to the app, design, code, and the brand name "DocNado" belong to the operator.
  • You retain all rights to your entered document data and content.
  • You grant us a limited license to process and store your data for operating the app.
  • The app uses open-source components. The respective licenses are available upon request.

9. Termination and Account Deletion

  • You can delete your account at any time in the profile settings.
  • We reserve the right to block accounts for serious violations of these Terms of Service.
  • After account deletion, your data is completely and irrevocably removed, including all encrypted documents and metadata.
  • Upon account deletion, encryption key salts are also removed. Subsequent data recovery is excluded.

10. Changes

We reserve the right to change these Terms of Service, especially when introducing new features. We will notify you of significant changes in the app. By continuing to use the app after a change, you agree to the updated terms.

11. Applicable Law and Jurisdiction

The laws of the Federal Republic of Germany apply. Jurisdiction is, to the extent legally permissible, Bonn. The application of the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods is excluded.
